The retreat will focus on the bodhisattva path of wisdom and compassion and how to bring more gentleness, peace, and clarity to our everyday lives. Khenpo Sonam will lead us through meditation practices in which we not only become familiar with maitri – the simple and kind attitude toward ourselves and others – but also begin to cultivate the awakened attitudes of non-partiality, altruism, non-aggression and open mind, making more room for compassion – karuna – to enter our hearts.
Khenpo Sonam is the resident dharma teacher of Lhundrup Choling, a Buddhist center in Los Angeles, California. He focuses his teachings on the Vajrayana lineages of Longchen Nyingthig and Dudjom Tersar. Khenpo Sonam is known for his ability to communicate intricate Buddhist concepts with clarity and ease. He has a genuine, natural relaxed way of being, bringing freshness, warmth, and openness to the environment and his students, and to all those who meet him.
